Wall Cracks
Cracks in brick or plaster walls that are spreading, stepping through mortar joints, or appearing around doors and windows.
What a caller might say
A quick reference to help you handle our calls confidently — who we are, what we do, and how to point each caller in the right direction.
Thanks for taking these calls on our behalf — it means a lot. You don't need to be a structural expert; that's our engineer's job. What helps us most is getting each caller to the right next step. Here's how:
Caller wants a Buildfix service → submit an Assessment Enquiry. Say: “Our assessments team will be in touch within one to two business days.”
Everything else → submit a General Enquiry to the right team. Say: “I'll pass that through to our [team] and someone will get back to you.”
Caller asks a technical or pricing question → no need to take that one on yourself. Say: “That's a great question — our engineer will explain everything during the free assessment.” They'd rather hear it from the expert anyway.
Buildfix is Australia's leading structural repair specialist. Founded in 2011 on Sydney's Northern Beaches, we've repaired over 15,000 homes across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra. Strapline: “The Experts in Structural Repair.”

If a caller describes any of the symptoms below, you're talking to one of our customers — go ahead and book them in for a free structural assessment.

Cracks in brick or plaster walls that are spreading, stepping through mortar joints, or appearing around doors and windows.
What a caller might say

The ground under the home has moved. Floors slope, walls crack, doors jam — and it only gets worse without intervention.
What a caller might say

Damp walls, peeling paint at the skirting, a musty smell, salt deposits. Moisture is being absorbed up through the foundation walls.
What a caller might say

Timber floors resting on brick piers or stumps that have shifted. The floor follows the piers down.
What a caller might say

Driveways, pathways, garage floors, pool surrounds — when the ground underneath moves, concrete follows.
What a caller might say

A wall pulling away from the rest of the building — leaning outward, bowing, or separating from the roof.
What a caller might say
Buildfix uses three of our own technologies — manufactured in-house, non-invasive, and covered by a 20-year warranty. This is just context for you if a caller mentions one by name; the engineer walks them through how it all works on site.

Structural resin injection
A closed-cell geopolymer resin injected through coin-sized holes into the ground beneath the property. It fills voids, stabilises foundations, and lifts and re-levels concrete — no excavation.
Fixes

Stainless-steel wall reinforcement
Stainless-steel helical bars bonded into mortar joints through small slits. They reinforce cracks and reconnect walls that are leaning or pulling away from the structure.
Fixes

Damp-proof course injection
A water-based, silicone damp-proof course injected into the mortar line through small 1cm holes. Blocks rising damp permanently — non-hazardous, odour-free, no excavation.

If a caller describes any of these, it's outside what we do. Let them know kindly and point them toward the right trade — they usually appreciate a clear answer instead of being passed around.
Pre-purchase building inspections — recommend they call a licensed building inspector.
Cosmetic-only work (painting, render patching, crack chasing) — we only do these as part of a structural repair.
Plumbing, electrical, or general handyman / carpentry jobs.
Roof repairs, tiling, wet-area waterproofing, or leaking showers.
New builds, extensions, or demolition.
Properties outside our service area — we cover greater metro VIC, NSW, ACT and QLD (within ~3 hours of our hubs).
Exception — strata & commercial callers: Buildfix does handle these, but through a separate form. If a caller is a strata manager, owner's corporation, or commercial client, book them via the same Assessment Enquiry option — just select the matching property type.
Caller describes structural damage → submit an Assessment Enquiry. Say: “Our assessments team will be in touch within one to two business days.”
Caller asks about pricing, technical details, or how a repair works → leave that one for the engineer. Say: “Our engineer will explain everything during the free assessment.”
Caller asks about an existing job, invoice, or complaint → submit a General Enquiry to the right team.
Not sure? → book the assessment anyway. It's free, and our engineer will sort it out on site — no harm done.
